Abstract
To keep up with the ever-expanding body of medical knowledge for the better care of patients, physicians need to be lifelong learners. Journal clubs are the most effective technique in which to teach evidence-based medicine during residency, and their origins in the late 1870s emphasize the sources of information in which we teach critical appraisal skills.
