Abstract
Ventilator-Associated Events (VAEs) represent a spectrum of complications that arise in patients receiving invasive mechanical ventilation. Effective management of VAEs and VACs in the ICU is vital for improving patient outcomes. VAEs encompass a range of conditions, from worsening oxygenation to secondary infections like ventilator-associated pneumonia (VAP). The NSUH RT depts "VAC Watch" program is an essential surveillance tool for detecting early signs of deterioration in ventilated patients. NSUH was able to reduce VAE by 50% from 2022 to 2023 and 2024 year to date we were able to decrease VAE by another 50% for a total of 82% year to date.
