Abstract
Nurses and PCAs at the hospital have been experiencing increased stress, including compassion fatigue, potential patient errors, absenteeism, and burnout, leading to higher employee turnover. Current efforts to address these issues include leadership and PFCC rounding, as well as Lavender Huddles. To further support staff, new interventions have been introduced, such as modified lead assignments, massage chairs, and reduced lighting in a designated break room, as well as stress identification beads at nursing stations. The Patient Experience Dashboard tracks improvements in nurse courtesy, respect, and response times, and the pre-implementation survey for the Modified Lead Assignment Project revealed moderate stress related to patient acuity (3.69/5) and adequate staffing (3.52/5). Post-implementation data indicates positive changes, including reduced stress and improved patient interactions. A post-implementation survey will be distributed to gather additional feedback from nurses and PCAs on these new interventions and their impact.
