Description
The S.R. Smith Infirmary’s first motorized ambulance was purchased in 1912 for $2,800. According to the National EMS Museum, today, ambulances and mobile response units are stocked with modern medical care equipment. Larger units can support mobile operating rooms and recovery facilities; radiology and diagnostic equipment; and room for multiple patients and providers.
