Description
In the United States, critical care medicine continued to develop throughout the 1970s and 1980s. In 1970, Staten Island Hospital introduced its first pulmonary function unit. Pictured here are a group of providers in 1979 operating as a team to care for the patient. Today, our Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care, and Sleep Medicine are staffed by physicians who are board certified specialists in their fields, and who maintain the highest standards of academic quality and integrity.
