Abstract
A new biological effective dose (BED) is proposed in this note. This new BED definition takes into account the fact that dose distribution is non-uniform for tumors in patients' treatments. This new BED can be calculated from the dose distribution within a tumor, making it practical and useful for clinical applications. (C) 2015 Associazione Italiana di Fisica Medica.
