Abstract
North Shore University Hospital tackled significant revenue loss and workflow inefficiencies stemming from manual charge capture processes for surgical implants and supplies in its high-volume operating rooms. To address this, the facility implemented AssistIQ, an AI-powered image-based tool for automated product recognition and barcode scanning. Rolled out in phases across various OR and procedural areas from April to September 2025, this solution aimed to identify billable materials more efficiently, improve nursing workflow, and provide real-time data to billing teams. The initiative has demonstrated a significant increase in captured revenue and improved operational efficiency, leading to plans for enterprise-wide implementation and integration with EPIC.
